Islam is not a religion that promotes violence. Extremists who kill in the name of Islam are the farthest thing from being a real Muslim.
Some people claim that the Quran passages promote violence.
According to Abdullah Saeed, writer for The Australian, they need to consider these words were written in the seventh century where the Quran was urging Muslims, of that time, to stand up for their right to religious freedom and against oppression and persecution.
These texts should not be taken out of context but they are by radicals that want to use Islam for their own selfish motives.
Scriptures of other religions have the same issue, where they include violence because they were discovered so long ago when the world was a different place. The Holy Bible, for example says homosexuals should be killed
Leviticus 20:13 “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman,
both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”
Violence is even promoted if a person goes to work on a certain day.
Exodus 35:2 “For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.”
These scriptures were written too long ago. It’s obvious that they should not be taken so literally.
Militant extremists use these verses in the Quran to promote violence but they are wrongfully using the religion as an excuse for their wrongdoing.
A real Muslim would know that no one has the right to decide who should live and who should die along with anyone with a sane mind and a good heart.
Before using the past terrorist attacks to hate Muslims, people should understand the true meaning of Islam and the difference between radicals and actual Muslims.
It’s saddening that American Muslims have to be defined, not by their good deeds, but by a small group of radicals who don’t care about Muslims. They use the religion as an excuse but really they are trying to make some sort of political point or disturbance.
This shouldn’t be so hard for people to understand. There are many people of all religions that commit insane crimes here in the United States, such as the Columbine shooting, the Virginia Tech shooting, The Sandy Hook shooting and The Boston Marathon massacre.
People that have committed these crimes are filled with hate and evil. It is illogical to blame race or religion for this small group of people’s horrible actions.
The Quran does not preach violence against Christians but assures Christians and Jews of paradise if they believe and do good works, and commends Christians as the best friends of Muslims.
People of many religions like to alter their religion to better suit their perspective and that’s where the problem lies.
