Hizbullah’s armed wing wired almost $100,000 (75,000 euros) to two men wanted over a bomb attack that killed five Israeli tourists in Bulgaria last year, a local newspaper reported Friday, according to the AFP news agency.

According to the 24 Hours daily, the money was to help organize the blast at Burgas airport on the Black Sea on July 18, 2012, and to carry out reconnaissance in other countries.

The attack on the tourist bus also killed the vehicle's Bulgarian driver -- a Muslim -- and left 35 people injured. It was the deadliest attack on Israelis abroad since 2004.

Israel immediately blamed Hizbullah for the terror attack but it took until February for Sofia to make the "justified conclusion" that it agreed.

This contributed to the European Union's decision on Monday to blacklist the Lebanese Shiite group's so-called “military wing”, while leaving its political arm off the list.

The actual bomber died in the attack and has still not been identified.

Bulgaria this week named his two suspected accomplices as Australian passport-holder Maliad Farah, 32, and Canadian citizen Hassan El Hajj Hassan, 25, both Lebanese-born.

According to 24 Hours, which cited foreign intelligence services and international banks for its report, the money was wired to their Canadian and Australian bank accounts.

The local Presa newspaper reported meanwhile that fake U.S. driver's licenses used by the men were made on a printer at Beirut's Lebanese International University, where they studied engineering.

The men had undergone military training in Lebanon in late 2010 and early 2011, Presa added, citing investigators.

Neither Bulgaria’s interior ministry nor prosecutors would comment on the reports.

The deadliest attack Thursday happened when a bomb exploded inside a crowded cafe north of Baghdad, killing 16 diners and wounded 20 others.

Iraqi police said that the blast targeted Noufel cafe near the town of Muqdadiyah, about 90 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad.

Ahmed Ibrahim, a government employee, was shopping near the targeted cafe when he heard a thunderous explosion.

"Everybody rushed to the explosion site and saw charred bodies that were thrown outside the cafe because of the powerful explosion," he said. "The scene was horrible."

An hour later, a bomb went off inside another cafe near Baghdad, killing two people and wounding six, authorities said. Hospital officials confirmed the casualty figures.

"A year after the bomb attack on a bus with Israeli tourists that killed five Israelis and one Bulgarian citizen, the authorities are seeking public assistance for information on two people suspected of having links to the attack," the interior ministry said in a statement.

The two were identified as 32-year-old Australian Maliad Farah, also known as Hussein Hussein – a bearded man with dark hair, thick black eyebrows and brownish eyes – and 25-year-old Canadian Hassan El Hajj Hassan – a man of lighter complexion, with a closely shaved head and a goatee.

“I want to do Jihad for the sake of God. It is written in the Koran that you are allowed to kill infidels as you would kill a dog.„

Two other Afghan security officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the bomb had been hidden internally. Officials had earlier been quoted as saying the bomb had been hidden in the attacker’s underwear.

Four Saudi Arabian nationals have been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on a Tanzanian church that the country's president has called "an act of terror".

Tanzania, once celebrated as a role model for peace in Africa, is no longer being considered ‘safe’ after an increase in inter-faith violence, with little evidence so far of perpetrators brought to justice.

Last Sunday’s blast outside St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Arusha, a town popular with tourists visiting the Serengeti national park and Mount Kilimanjaro, was just the latest example.

The newly built church, in the Olasti district on the outskirts of Arusha, was celebrating its first ever mass at the time of the attack, which left three dead and more than 60 injured.
