More than 7,000 deliberate burning attacks against women were recorded by the Progressive Women's Association of Pakistan in just two Pakistani towns between 1994 and 2008, the work of husbands who attack their wives as a form of revenge for refusing sexual advances or other proposals. More than 8,500 acid attacks, forced marriages and other forms of violence against women were reported in Pakistan in 2011, according to The Aurat Foundation, a women’s rights organization. Because the group relied mostly on media reports, the figure is likely grossly underestimated.

RAJBIRAJ, June 3: Though it may sound unimaginable, a man here admitted to killing his daughter with the help of hired killers.
Chandrika Raut of Bathnaha VDC-7 has admitted to hiring men for killing his 17-year-old daughter, Ruby.
He on May 21 had killed his daughter with the help of two hired killers, according to the police. This fact came to light after 10 days of the incident.
After masterminding the killing of his daughter, Chandrika brought Ruby to her maternal uncle´s home at Rampura Malhaniya in Saptari from his sister´s house at Darbhanga in Bihar of India. She stayed there for two days and in the third day, she was sent to ´home´ with two unknown men who later slit her throat, taking her to an isolated place near the Koshi embankment.
Investigations revealed that the killers set fire on Ruby´s body near a canal at Koiladi-9 same night and threw it into the canal.
Ruby´s charred body was found at 9:00 am on May 22. The body was indentified only after three days. Chandrika claimed that he killed his daughter for ´tarnishing´ the family image.
Ruby, an eighth-grader at local Bajrangi School reportedly on May 17 eloped with neighbour Arun Kumar. Later, she was taken back to home with the joint efforts of two families.
Mohan Saha of Koiladi-9 has been arrested on the charge of his involvement in the killing whereas the next accomplice is on the run. Chandrika gave Rs. 10,000 to the killers of his daughter, police said.
